The Counseling Teacher Brandy Teaching Resources | Teachers Pay Teachers:

I am currently a Middle School Counselor in Germantown, Tennessee. Our counseling department was awarded the RAMP award from the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) for excellence in counseling. Before counseling, I taught 2nd, 4th, and 8th grade at a K-8 school. I am passionate about creating resources that are engaging and have an element of fun to them. My husband and I also run a small farm with our three kids, two llamas, 2 pigs, 12 chickens, 3 cats and two dogs. I enjoy blogging about helpful tips for school counselors. Diversity in Mind with Abena Teaching Resources | Teachers Pay Teachers: As well as always considering diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ), my teaching stems from the acronym EMPOWER – I created this when trying to summarise my core values as an educator. It provides a compass to remain true to my beliefs around learning. I’ve been in the classroom since 2000, beginning with teaching English as an Additional Language in the UK and abroad. I then moved into teaching English language and literature in mainstream schools. I’ve taught across all age groups, and currently work with delightful, multinational teenagers in Southeast Asia. I work in an international school, and split the rest of my professional time between producing resources and supporting teachers to make their classrooms more culturally-sustaining.
