At the start, it is exciting and fulfilling. Therefore, it&rsquo;s definitely an accomplishment to be proud of and celebrate for as long as you want! However, at some point, that high comes down and you face the reality of being an SLP post-grad. For instance, no longer being a student, an identity you&rsquo;ve had since you were between 3-5. It&rsquo;s hard to let that go and transition.&nbsp;<\/p><p>Today, I&rsquo;m not going to dwell on that too much. Lastly, This is important because our biases can cloud clinical judgement and decision making. By acknowledging them, we will be a culturally sensitive and professional SLP. We will make the most evidence based and appropriate clinical decisions. <span data-offset-key=\"bgrod-3-0\">By understanding when biases may interfere in our work, we are more <\/span><span class=\"complexword\"><span data-offset-key=\"bgrod-4-0\">objective<\/span><\/span><span data-offset-key=\"bgrod-5-0\">. We serve our patients even better than before.<\/span><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/norahspeaks.com\/blog\/why-tiktok-is-the-place-to-learn-about-cultural-sensitivity\/\">Why TikTok Is The Place to Learn About Cultural Sensitivity: <\/a><\/strong><p>TikTok&rsquo;s aims to bring joy with short videos. As a result, Many users on TikTok are becoming creative and resourceful with their time. Certainly, they use one minute to educate users on cultural sensitivity issues. TikTok allows people to share their authentic experience about brushed over topics.&nbsp; As with all platforms, there are instances of racism, sexism, and discrimination. But I have learned a lot more on TikTok of the experiences of different identities than I did in public school. I share TikTok accounts that increase my cultural sensitivity as a healthcare professional.<\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-style: inherit; letter-spacing: -0.045px; font-weight: bold;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/norahspeaks.com\/blog\/microaggressions-and-macroaggressions-in-slp\/\">Microaggressions in Healthcare:&nbsp;<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; letter-spacing: -0.045px;\">Microaggressions are comments or actions discriminatory to certain identities. If we are aware of these, we are more supportive. Our assessment tools need to reflect that. The tools I share will be as non-biased as possible. This post explains why not all international work is beneficial. Not all these groups will be SLP groups. They include important topics that can help us&nbsp; be more <\/span><span data-offset-key=\"6pdhh-4-0\">culturally<\/span><span data-offset-key=\"6pdhh-5-0\"> sensitive.<\/span><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/norahspeaks.com\/blog\/culturally-sensitive-slp-curriculum\/\">Culturally Responsive SLP Curriculum:<\/a><\/strong> <span data-offset-key=\"f1nip-1-0\">What does <\/span><span data-offset-key=\"f1nip-2-0\">culturally<\/span><span data-offset-key=\"f1nip-3-0\"> sensitive SLP curriculum look like? Part of being <\/span><span data-offset-key=\"f1nip-4-0\">culturally<\/span><span data-offset-key=\"f1nip-5-0\"> sensitive SLPs come from our educational foundations.
