For day 15 of BHSM, I am sharing culturally responsive SLP groups. One way to take action and be more culturally sensitive and response is to join SLP groups that focus on discussion related to being a culturally sensitive SLP and person. The vision of SIG 14 is to be a leading resource for (a) advancing knowledge regarding the importance of cultural and linguistic diversity and its influence on human communication and (b) the infusion of this knowledge into research, education, and clinical practice.<\/p>

The mission of the SIG on Cultural and Linguistic Diversity (SIG 14) is to provide leadership and advocacy for best practices relating to culturally and linguistically appropriate audiology and speech-language pathology services. SIG 14 seeks to promote research and to provide networking, collaboration, education, and mentoring opportunities for its affiliates, students, and related professionals.<\/p>

They sponsor online chats, continuing education, networking, and representation with ASHA. <\/p>

This group will share resources and offer a space for dialogue about teaching on days after injustice, traumas, and tragedies, on an international, national, or local scale. How do we as educators respond to these major events in our classrooms? This group is grounded in commitments to justice, equity, anti-racism, and anti-oppressive curriculum and pedagogy. This is a free Facebook group made by educators for educators. Members can share and consume resources they use in their classroom or therapy space for injustice-related dialogue and teaching.<\/div>
