It is also used to describe people within the LGBTQIA+ community. Like all other terms, make sure you find out what gay<\/span> means to each individual and know what terms are appropriate to describe their sexuality<\/a>. Some people who identify as gay<\/span> use the term homosexual. That doesn’t make it okay for others that aren’t gay<\/span> to use it!<\/p>\n

For more information, visit GLAAD <\/a>or GLSEN<\/a>. GLSEN hosts the Day of Silence yearly in April, a student led protest for LGBTQIA+ visibility.  Students remain silent for a whole day to reflect the feeling of not being able to come out.<\/p>\n
